Dear Editor,

Southerners in Zambia are really hard workers, we can’t take this element away from them and no two ways about it, there are few or very little numbers of bars seen in this particular region based on my personal tour of duty that I had embarked on some few years ago, where I drove and stepped a foot in each and every town down this south end of the nation.

If we were to give Southern Province water lands and bodies like that of both Luapula and Northern provinces, this nation will produce sufficiently enough food and supply to feed the entire SADC region.

From many empirical views and pertinent studies have all pointed out this astounding fact of having a good mixture of both hard working and passion to drive it out with good results, it is however gratifying to state that Southern Province in Zambia has the highest animals for both meats and meat products but has less policy impact in terms of equalizing the balance for socio-economic development at national level.

I would like to ask government to keenly champion in developing of this particular area given the circumstances in future in terms of connecting proper road infrastructure to enable most farmers’ produce to cultivate even more.

Zambia at current level feeds on beef and meat products which come from this very important place, meat in this area is even considered as much cheaper costs across the price band with consideration of product mix and model range of meat products in full comparison to the rest of the country’s provinces.

However, it is rewarding to make mention that big agribusiness outfits with vested interest in milk processing and other related products have all equally set up some strong partnerships within the value-chain from this end to supply and distribute of much needed processed products to other regions within the nation.

Southern province only lacks enough water supply for robust agriculture drive!
