Water blues hit Kalomo

ERRATIC water supply has hit various parts of Kalomo district forcing residents to go without the commodity.
Aaron Katongo and Elvah Kanimba, both residents of Mawaya Compound, complained that they had been experiencing the erratic water supply for the past two months now.
They were speaking in separate interviews with the Daily Nation in Kalomo, Southern province.
Mr Kanimba said the situation had also negatively affected their operations while livestock farmers were equally adversely affected.
Mr Katongo also said there was need for an urgent to redress the situation because water was a basic human need.
A check found residents fetching water from the nearby Sichikwenkwe River for use for washing dishes and laundry.
Barbra Chikobela, a resident of Macraymond Compound, expressed the same sentiments and called on the Southern Water and Sanitation Company (SWASCO) to move in quickly and rectify the problem.
But Kalomo District SWASCO Branch Manager Moses Mulawo said he had not received any complaint from residents concerning the matter.
Mr Mulawo has since advised residents to report their complaints in order for the officers to follow up such problems.

Civic leaders sworn in Lukulu and Mitete districts
30 Councilors for Lukulu and Mitete districts who dully elected on August 12, 2021 general elections were yesterday sworn into office.
out of 30 councilors 17 were for Lukulu while 13 were for Mitete district of Western province
And newly elected Council Chairperson, Layson Malyachila pledged to continue working for the people of the area.
Mr Malyachila has since urged incoming councilors to work as a team in order to deliver their campaign promises to the people.
And Lungwevungu ward councilor, Kutemba Kaumba who is one of the two female elected councilors, pledged to represent women and youths in developing the district.

elected civic leaders ready to develop Mwansabombwe
Eleven councilors inMwansabombwe district who were dully elected in the August 12, 2021general elections have been sworn in as councilors for Mwansabombwe town council.
The swearing in ceremony which took place yesterday also saw Terrion Chungu being sworn in as the Mwansabombwe Town council chairperson.
Speaking shortly after being sworn in, Mr Chungu promised to have an open door policy and implored the people of Mwansabombwe to work as a team to develop the district.
“Thank you for the support that you gave to me and the councilors. I would like to inform you that we are going to have an open door policy, the office will be open to all the people of Mwansabombwe. Feel free to visit the office whenever you have an issue, we are your servants,” Mr. Chungu advised.
Mr Chungu said the time for politic is over but that all leaders should focus on how to fulfil the promises which were made during the campaigns.
