Keep children at home – Minister

PARENTS must ensure that their children keep away from crowded places such as markets and bus stations, Local Government Minister Charles Banda has advised.
The Minister particularly appealed to mothers in markets and other areas not to go with their children in trading locations because they would risk their young ones getting infected with COVID-19.
Dr Banda said markets were high risk areas for corona virus, hence the need to keep the children away.
The Minister was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Copperbelt Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe, in Ndola yesterday.
He said places like markets, bus stations were high human traffic areas because that was usually were trade was done.
Dr Banda said he was on the Copperbelt to monitor adherence to preventive measures and would tour various places.
He said the Copperbelt was one of the busiest provinces which shared borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“We may end up having problems if we don’t adhere to the measures put up especially here on the Copperbelt which shares borders with critical countries,” he said.
And Mr Mwakalombe stated that the motivation from the front liners was good adding that compliance was equally encouraging in the province.
He stated that the Copperbelt had enhanced effort to ensure that the pandemic was mitigated.
