Stop harassing Zambians, Namibians authorities told

By ADRIAN MWANZA

NAMIBIAN Police authorities should not harass and mistreat Zambian individuals because the country did a lot and even lost lives for that country to be liberated, says Green Party President Peter Sinkamba.

Mr Sinkamba who was reacting to an incident where Namibian authorities are seen attacking Zambian civilians in a video that has gone viral at Katima Mulilo Border Post.

Zambians are seen being arrested for merely being found at the no man’s land between Zambia and Namibia.

He said Zambia played a pivotal role in ensuring that its neighbor was liberated and that it was unfortunate that they would be seen to be mistreating people that risked a lot for them to have their independence.

He said there is need for diplomatic intervention by the two countries to quickly quell the growing tension that was brewing at Katima Mulilo Border Post.

Mr Sinkamba in an interview said that the two governments needed to ensure that they dealt with the issue of reported violence, saying  the two countries were like Siamese twins and that there was no need to engage in altercations.

Mr Sinkamba said that it was because of such small issues that escalated in some bigger problems and could even lead to a full-fledged war.

“My take is this issue needs to be sorted out as soon as possible to avoid further incidences in the future which could lead to even war between the two countries,” he said.

Mr said that he did not fully understand what the issue was all about but that the attacks on Zambian civilians were not good.
