Patriotic Front (PF) media director Sunday Chanda has charged that Chishimba Kambwili’s sickness seriously needs to be checked before it is too late as his hallucinations have become a liability even to his cheer leaders.

And National Traders and Marketeers Association of Zambia (NATMAZ) president Goodson Mofya has advised Mr Kambwili to shut up if he has no better things to says instead of challenging President Edgar Lungu to disclose the source of the Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund (PEIF).

Meanwhile, the expelled Roan Member of Parliament, Mr Kambwili, yesterday challenged President Lungu to disclose the source of the Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund (PEIF).

But Mr Chanda charged that there was something seriously wrong with Mr Kambwili and that he needed urgent help.

He reiterated that Mr Kambwili was the greatest hypocrite because he was among the ministers who affirmed the PEIF when he was in government.

Mr Chanda explained that the pain that the expelled senior PF member was going through had the potential to cause serious devastation.

He said that the sickness that might have engulfed Mr Kambwili needed urgent attention as it had become a liability.

Mr Chanda wondered why Mr Kambwili should question the source of PEIF now that he was no longer in government.

“President Lungu does not have time for Mr Kambwili’s sentiments. Mr Kambwili is the biggest hypocrite ever. When he was chief government spokesperson, he was among the first to affirm the President Empowerment Fund, why question the source now,” he questioned.

“If Mr Kambwili has nothing better to say, he should keep quiet, instead of trying to gain political mileage out of the issue of PEIF. He has been boasting that he has a lot of money to go to the United Kingdom to drink coffee and come back, but he has not helped marketeers in any way.

“Mr Kambwili has no right to challenge President Lungu to disclose where he is getting money for PEIF. Mr Kambwili has not helped us even when he was minister.  What is he saying? He wants to talk about marketeers when he is no longer a minister.  As marketeers, we will support those who support us, and not those who think of us only when they have problems,” Mr Mofya said.

And speaking yesterday at his home in Luanshya, Mr Kambwili said President Lungu should disclose the source of PEIF so that people know where the money for helping marketeers was coming from.

“I am demanding that President Edgar Lungu tells the nation where he gets the money for the PEIF because I don’t want marketeers to be touching dirty money.

He should tell us if it is the contractors who are giving him money to give marketeers or if it is the investors who are giving him money, “They are saying the PEIF has given out more than K10 million to marketeers, where have they gotten this money from,” Mr Kambwili said.

Mr Kambwili has also challenged the relevant authorities and President Lungu to explain what criteria was used to choose the contractor to work on the US$1.2 billion Ndola-Lusaka dual carriage-way which has a stretch of 321 kilometres.

He also demanded that Government should also explain what criteria was used to choose the contractor for the  Kayambi-Nseluka Road and Kashikishi-Chiengi Road.

He said if it was true that the contractors in all the three road rehabilitation contracts were single sourced, then the contracts should be cancelled.
