ANOTHER TRUCK CARRYING MUKULA TREE INTERCEPTED IN KASEMPA

FORESTRY officers in Kasempa have intercepted another truck carrying  Mukula logs in Kasempa.

North Western Province Commissioner of Police Auxensio Daka said the incident happened on Friday around 22:00 hours.

Mr Daka said the truck, a Fteightliner registration number ALM 2324 with trailer registration number ACP 64T containing 138 log of Mukula was being driven by Lawrence Sinyangwe of Luangwa compound in Kitwe.

“The truck was coming from Kinkonge area in Mufumbwe and was destined for Lusaka, he said.

Mr Daka said the owner of the logs Errol Rosen aged 36 of Chisamba has been arrested and will be charged for being in illegal possession of forest produce.

Meanwhile, property worth K70,680 has been destroyed in an inferno at Belmont Lodge in Mwinilunga.

Mr Daka said the incident occurred yesterday around 12:00 hours when a chalet which was operating as a bar was burnt to ashes by a bush fire.

“The cause of fire is not yet established though there was negligence on the owner who failed to put up precautionary measures,  Mr Daka said.
