EMBATTLED Roan Member of Parliament, Chishimba Kambwili has been roundly condemned for insulting Patriotic Front deputy secretary-general, Mumbi Phiri in a manner described as sickening.
Opposition leaders and civil activists have condemned Mr Kambwili for letting his “mouth control him.”
In an apparent heat of the moment, Mr Kambwili let his mouth run loose and unleashed a barrage of attacks on Ms Mumbi in which he revealed that he donated tissues to her because she was too poor to afford the items.
Mr Kambwili’s remarks are a direct insult against women and his apology to Ms Phiri is just a ploy to pull her leg and should not be taken seriously, says 3rd Liberation Movement president Enock Tonga.
Mr Tonga said the Roan MP was behaving like a mad person and that something was wrong with him.
He called on women in Zambia who are the majority voters not to entrust Mr Kambwili with their votes at any level.
Mr Tonga said women were mothers and needed to be respected and protected.
“Something is definitely wrong with Mr Kambwili. He is behaving like a mad person. His remarks are unimaginable and a direct insult not only against Ms Phiri but our mothers. His apology is not genuine, he is just pulling her leg,” Mr Tonga said.
Youth Aid chairperson Chungu Kachenga said Mr Kambwili does not respect women and that his mouth had become his greatest enemy.
Mr Kachenga said it was against the African culture and literally an insult for the Roan MP to say he helped Ms Phiri with toilet paper and that he should avoid to speak in the heat of the moment as it had become clear that his mouth was his biggest enemy.
And Mandevu Constituency secretary Lemmy Bwalya said it was only a few days ago that Mr Kambwili was allegedly involved in an altercation with their MP Jean Kapata and that it had become a source of concern.
Mr Bwalya said it was shameful that Mr Kambwili, who was a lawmaker could be behaving in such a despicable manner.
