Makembo  applauds Daka

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

ZAMBIA Sports Fans Association patron Peter Makembo has urged Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka to continue doing the talking on the pitch as he is an inspiration to young footballers with a dream to play football at the highest level.

Daka scored a brace as Leicester City humiliated Stoke City 5-0 in an English Championship fixture played on Saturday to open an 11-point lead at the summit of the championship table.

The former Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos striker opened the scoring at bet365 Stadium, before adding another in the second half, with Kasey McAteer and Jamie Vardy also among the scorers during a dominant performance in the Potteries.

The performance cheered Makembo who congratulated the Chipolopolo striker who contributed a goal and an assist as Zambia failed to go past the group stage at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

Makembo said he was proud of the Chipolopolo striker for working hard to always raise the country’s flag high.

“Daka has been consistent when it comes to working hard and now I believe that is why his coach at Leicester believes in him because he has proven that he is not an average striker,” Makembo said.

“As fans back home, we are proud of Daka and we encourage him to continue doing what he knows best on the pitch. Continue to score more goals because you are an inspiration to the kids back home, kids with the dream to be the next Patson Daka, kids with a dream to play in the best leagues in the world,” he said.

In the last nine games that he has played for Leicester City who are guaranteed to make a return to the English Premier League, Daka has scored six goals and three assists making him one of the most dangerous players at the club.
