Phiri senses Forest Rangers’ survival

Forest Rangers coach Patrick Phiri says the survival finish-line is just around the bend if they can just maintain their momentum.
Forest on Sunday beat Kabwe Warriors 3-1 at home in Ndola to pick up their second straight win and third in the final half of the 2016 Faz Super League season.
The victory saw Forest jump five places from 13th to 8th, with six games left before the 2016 Faz Super League ends.
And also much to Phiri’s relief, Forest’s victory over Warriors saw them avenge May’s 4-1 away loss they suffered at the hands of the Railwaymen in Kabwe.
“We are very happy with these three points because we are on the threshold of either staying or going down,” Phiri said.
“It is good that at least we are edging towards remaining in the Premiership with six matches to go.”
The win came a week after Forest beat bottom-placed Mufulira Blackpool 2-0 away in Mufulira.
Forest are now unbeaten in their last four games picking up eight points out of a possible 12 points since losing 1-0 away in the Ndola derby to defending champions Zesco United on September 8.
“We have been working very hard in the last four games after getting very negative results,” Phiri said.
“So it is good to see that lapse is gone; we won in Mufulira and at home we are happy to have rediscovered the winning formula.
“We hope that we continue going like that so we can finish in a healthy position.”
