UPND condemns Malanji attack

By NATION REPORTER

THE UPND leadership has slammed attacks on Kwacha Member of Parliament, Joseph Malanji.

UPND spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said the suspected UPND cadres were going against the head of state’s stance.

Mr Mweetwa said however that the person who committed an affront to the law was alone and would not be shielded by the party.

He said that it was sad because the head of state had been categorical on denouncing caderism in the country.

“The UPND’s legal team will not shield anyone that goes against the law because the party has indicated that it would stick to the rule of law,” he said.

Mr Mweetwa said political affiliation did not matter and  that the law was clear that any person who commits violence needed to be visited by the law.

He said such attacks on a lawmaker would not be condoned and called on the police to do their job diligently.
