I’M READY – ECL

BY NATION REPORTER

I am next after the summoning of former first lady, Esther Lungu, by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), former president, Edgar Lungu has said.

“You don’t have to be very intelligent to know that after her it’s me. But I am ready. And there is talk about immunity, yes, they can take away the immunity but I will be able to answer to whatever charges. Even if they say I am hiding behind the immunity, I am not hiding anything, even now they can question me as a citizen and I will be able to answer, Mr Lungu said.

I know what is going on. The strategy is to make sure they kill PF.    They kill my political life. I am still politically active though not in leadership, I can give an opinion. I can still influence certain things. So they are worried about that.

I have said I am no longer there, but I am a living being, so you can consult me. I am also a player in that sense.  So they want me out completely. You can not kill an idea. There are people who have been able to compare oranges and oranges and which ones are rotten. Ubufi bwachilamo, booza, kubeja,” he said.

When asked to comment on the alleged persecution of his family, Mr Lungu said, he was not surprised and knew that after his wife, the security wings would go for him.

He however, said he was ready for them. “ After her (Ms Lungu) , it’s me so let them come. I am ready. They should not claim that I am hiding behind the immunity. Let them just come.”

He said that some people had been complaining that he should never have given up power, but he said, it was important for people to have a chance to compare leadership.

“We gave up power and people can now compare. We are head and shoulders above them,” he said.

He also referred to the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who was forced to resign because of lies.

President Lungu thanked the MPs for their courage.

Life is a struggle. When you stop struggling, you are gone. May we check those who are liars.

I am talking about the United Kingdom. He lied his way into No.10 Downing Street.
