SEVEN senior Patriotic Front (PF) officials in Northern Province suspended recently for indiscipline, have apologized to party Secretary General Davies Mwila and asked for forgiveness.

The officials were suspended by Mr Mwila for failing to show up for party programmes when he toured the province.

“Following the suspension which you slapped on us, we have made a decision to apologise to your esteemed office for what we did; we are very sorry,” the officials said in a letter to Mr Mwila.

Mr Mwila toured Northern Province recently to meet party officials and assess the strength of the party ahead of the 2021 general elections and suspended seven senior party officials in the province for alleged indiscipline.

And PF Northern Province chairman Felix Mfula confirmed the suspension of the executive committee members in an interview.

“They remain suspended and it is up to the secretary general to decide on whether to lift their suspensions or not.

“Now that they were suspended by the SG, according to our party constitution, they have to appeal their suspension to the SG through the President,” he said.

He named the suspended officials as vice-chairman Peter Mwansa, secretary Ben Kabwela, treasurer Doris Kalusa, chairlady Annie Mutale, youth secretary Chanda Nsofu, youth chairman Ronald Mulenga and women’s league secretary Maggie Bwalya.

However, the officials have sent a letter of apology to Mr. Mwila in the hope that the suspension will be lifted.

Mr Chanda, one the suspended officials, said they have jointly written an apology letter to the party secretary general and were hopeful of being reprieved.

“We are only waiting for the way forward as we have already written the apology letter,” Mr Chanda said.
