The Zambia Association of Musicians have advised musician Chama Fumba popularly known as Pilato to desist from making unwarranted attacks on the Association which he is not a member of. Reacting to a story in one of the local daily papers that quoted Pilato’s Facebook page in which the musician is reported to have denounced ZAM leadership, ZAM publicity secretary Mwembe Chulu advised Pilato to first join the association and appreciate the many achievements and challenges it faces. Mr. Chulu famously known from the duo Black Muntu said it was wrong for Pilato to keep attacking an association where he was not a member. “Pilato is most welcome to join ZAM,” Chulu states, “ Just two days Njoya and team assumed office, we saw screaming headlines in papers, ‘ZAM is dead’, ‘ZAM is in ICU’. But seeing that the over 60 percent of the Strategic Plan has been achieved so far, makes Pilato bitter. He thinks we are miracle workers or magicians.” Mr. Chulu further stated that by making attacks on ZAM leadership through name-calling, it was clear that Pilato was a bitter person. “It would be good to know why ‘Professor know-it all [Pilato] has not paid membership of only K100. What we know is that he calls us names ever since we distanced ourselves from his ‘Alungu Anabwera’ song’,” charged Chulu who also outlined a number of what he termed as achievements that the current ZAM leadership under Njoya Tembo has made that Pilato should not ignore. “Right now ZAM has resurrected and on track enjoying support from different co-operating partners. Providing audit services to ZAM on pro bono basis is CMM Partners, a renowned accounting firm. We have three legal firms working closely with us namely Ellis and Company, Frazer and Associates and Central Chambers. Media365 has come on board as our communications consultants too. With the above it is clear that we now have confidence from the corporate institutions,” stated Chulu.
