THE government has given Kasama General Hospital K2million for renovations ahead major expansion next year, area Member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa has said.
Mr Sampa said it was disappointing that former government spokesperson, and information minister Chishimba Kambwili wanted to politicise the situation by saying that the hospital was in a bad state and that it had been forgotten. The hospital was presently under renovation as opposed to Mr Kambwili’s assertions. “The hospital in question had received K2 million from the government for the renovations before the major construction works start next year.
Construction should start soon now that the budget for 2018 has been unveiled. “An advert has already been sent for would-be contractors so that the tender could be awarded,” he explained. Mr Sampa explained that the hospital was old but the PF government had decided to renovate the existing infrastructure and also to upgrade the hospital. Mr Sampa said the Government had been implementing significant health sector reforms, aimed at strengthening health service delivery to improve the health status of the Zambian people.
