Man arrested over double killing

POLICE in Lusaka have arrested a 33-year-old man, Peter Siwale for allegedly shooting his wife, Charity Namuko, aged 30 and another man, Andrew Chibesa, aged 27.

Siwale, a clearing agent in Nakonde also gave his residential aaddress as Meanwood Phase 2.  He suspected Chibesa of having an affair with his wife.

Police spokesperson Esther Katongo disclosed that the incident happened on Thursday between 18:00 and 19:00 hours in Meanwood.

Ms Katongo said facts of the matter are that the suspect trailed the victims, who are both teachers at one of the schools in Kaunda Square to some place in Meanwood using a friend’s motor vehicle.

He then picked the two and took them to his home where he is alleged to have shot and killed them in the presence of his children.

Ms Katongo said the suspect later went to a neighbour with the children and requested that he be taken to the police.

“A pump action shotgun has since been recovered from the scene with three empty cartridges and the suspect is in police custody while the bodies of the deceased are in UTH mortuary,” said Ms Katongo.
