Dear editor,
On this International Anti-Corruption Day, I want to remind us that corruption is a mindset that has produced an ideal forming a belief. To reduce on corruption, it won’t take us arresting every politician because by so doing we are just cutting the branches of a tree with the hope that it will dry up and eventually die.
Imprisoning people on purported corruption charges is not the way to go. You cannot kill an ideal by imprisonment but can only defeat an idea with another better idea. In this case there’s need to deliberately pass on and inculcate a culture of stewardship from homes and schools from childhood .
Remember that integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.
