Boy narrates gang beating

BY LUCY PHIRI

A JUVENILE has testified in the Lusaka magistrate court how he was beaten by a gang of juveniles all aged sixteen at night in Kanyama compound in Lusaka.

He said he identified one juvenile named madmax (not his real name) who almost slashed his ear with a machete.

It is alleged that on August 28, 2021 in Lusaka jointly and whilst acting together three juveniles, two boys and a girl did unlawfully wound a fellow juvenile aged seventeen in Kanyama compound.

“I and my friend were seated at a place called Hope when we saw three people coming towards  us and started beating me, one of then hit me with a machete and I fell down unconscious,’’ he said.

Second witness who is also a juvenile told the court that on August 28, 2021 when she saw her friend, a complainant in the matter, passing at her place she called him and asked if he could share with her songs via Bluetooth, which he was listening to.

She said they wanted to hit her too but her friend ( victim in this matter) blocked the machete then hit him on the hand, and after seeing blood oozing the trio ran away.

After giving statements, the defence lawyer said he needed enough time to consult with his clients and needed another date for cross examination.
