Govt commits to reduce tax on local products

By MILLENNIUM REPORTER

GOVERNMENT says it will continue to implement reduced taxes on local products earmarked for export.

Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga, said this is the way to make the products more competitive and cheaper for the local consumers.

Mr Mulenga also said this will enable local producers to compete with their foreign counterparts who enjoy tax incentives.

Mr. Mulenga said Government will continue to come up with incentives that support the local private sector as this has been a challenge for some time now.

He said the local private sector has failed to grow for some time because of the high taxes that are imposed on them.
