NEWLY promoted Buildcon FC collected their second win of the season after coming from behind to defeat Green Eagles 2-1 in the first game of the double header played yesterday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Amos Tembo gave Eagles the lead in the 7th minute of the game when he headed home a corner kick.

After conceding, the home side came firing from all angles and were able to find the back of the net but both opportunities were ruled offside.

Buildcon’s persistence was rewarded in the 86th minute when Essuman Mustapha’s header went past Green Eagles goal keeper Robert Mwanza to make it 1-1.

Two minutes later, Clifton Miheso added a second from a sublime free kick a few inches away from the 18-yard area for Buildcon to go 2-1 up two minutes before the final whistle.

The win pushed Buildcon to 13th on the league table, on par with Nchanaga Rangers who lie on 14th with 10 points collected from eight games.

Meanwhile, MTN/FAZ Super League champions Zanaco and Zesco United played to a barren draw in a tightly contested Week 8 fixture in the second double-header at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

With both teams having recorded an equal percentage of ball possession, it was the defending champions Zanaco who threatened first with Felix Nyaende sending his header over the bar after winger Ernest Mbewe had produced a fantastic cross from the right in the 12th minute of the game.

Zesco responded 10 minutes later with Idris Mbombo’s header going wide after being set up by right back, Dauty Musekwa.

Zesco again threatened in the 26th minute of the game when striker John Ching’andu sent his shot wide despite having only the keeper to beat.

Zesco could have found the back of the net in early stages of the second half but Mbombo’s shot again went wide.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Mbombo again came close to scoring but his bicycle kick went over the bar.

Thirty minutes before the final whistle, Zanaco coach Numba Mumamba replaced injured Zimisileni Moyo with Damiano Kola while Zesco introduced Davy Daka for Jackson Mwanza.

Daka did not hesitate to make his presence felt but was unfortunate as his shot went over the bar two minutes before the final whistle.

The draw moves Zanaco and Zesco to second and fourth respectively on the league table with 15 points, a point behind league leaders Napsa Stars.

Zanaco and Zesco however have each a game in hand.
