NORTH Western provincial PF chairperson Emmanuel Chihili has urged those in authority to be level headed and avoid indulgence in wrong doings.

Mr Chihili said it was unfortunate that of all the provinces in Zambia, North Western was recording more corruption cases involving former leaders.

His comment follows the arrest of former North Western provincial minister Dawson Kafwaya for abuse of office involving K30, 000.

“It is very unfortunate to see that of all the provinces, we are having corruption cases involving former leaders. So, it is very important for those in authority not to indulge themselves in illicit activities,” he said.

He said no one is above the law hence the need for office bearers to mindful of their dealings.

Mr Chihili has however said though the  Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was doing its job in ensuring that those involved in corrupt activities area brought to book, it was important that the commission starts dealing with cases when someone is still in office.

“I will very comfortable when such issues are dealt with there and then other than waiting for someone to vacate office then you start pursuing them,” he said.

Recently, ACC arrested and charged Mr Kafwaya with two counts of one, obtaining goods by false pretence and altering of a false document contrary to sections 309 and 352 of chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
