BIG WIGS REJECT ‘PRESIDENT’ MUSENGE

5 NDC bigwigs reject ‘President’ Musenge

FIVE senior officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including former Anglican priest Father Richard Luonde have refused to work under the leadership of newly appointed party president Mwenya Musenge.
Mr Musenge confirmed that the five senior officials have refused to work with him and shunned a meeting of the national governing council (NGC) called to resolve issues which they had raised as some of the reasons why they had refused to work with him.
In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Musenge said he was extremely disappointed that the five, Father Luonde, Mr Newton Chabala, Professor Atanga and the other two who were the cornerstone of the NDC had decided not to work with him, but however wished them well in their political endeavours.
Mr Musenge also said those who were not comfortable with the position of NDC on various issues should not continue to claim to be members of the party but should go and form their own political parties.
“Forming a political party is not difficult. It is as easy as making a cup of tea. So those five senior officials who are not comfortable with the party position must not continue to claim to be NDC but must go and form their own political parties.
“I am extremely disappointed that they have refused to work with me despite I calling for an NGC meeting to resolve these issues. The meeting was called for the NGC to either endorse or reject my party presidency, but a day before the meeting, they went on Prime Television to state that they will not work with me hence they will be moving on,” Mr Musenge said
Mr Musenge said the five had refused to work with him because they feared that by being NDC president, he will benefit from whatever they had agreed in the UPND Alliance.
He said it was sad that some senior NDC officials had lost the vision and core focus of the party because of their personal interests.
