UPND wasting time pursuing ECL – ZUSD

By LUCY PHIRI
URSUING former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu by raiding his bank accounts and properties will not improve the country’s economy, Zambia United for Sustainable Development (ZUSD) presidential assistant Tatila Tatila has said.
Mr Tatila said in an interview the UPND administration was fixing opposition leaders and not the economic challenges which they pledged would be their priority.
He said the UPND were only wasting their time trying to interrogate and tamper with Mr Lungu’s account when they had failed to deliver fertiliser to the farmers on time.
“Invading the accounts of the former President Lungu will not change the narrative that the UPND has failed Zambians. They are failing to fix the economy which they had pledged would be their priority.
They are failing to deliver and want to hide in the name of fixing Mr. Lungu. They promised to fix the economy and now they are fixing people,” Mr Tatila said.
He noted that while in opposition, President Hakainde Hichilema was sent to prison but that the State respected his accounts but wondered why his administration was determined to embarrass and harass his predecessor.
Mr Tatila added that the UPND should ensure that they use this time in a special way by delivering development to the country and not politics and arresting perceived political opponents.
“Deliver development to the people in this period rather than playing politics, tampering with the accounts of individuals. It is just a waste of time. And all those advising the President are only exposing themselves because they lack political experience to manage the presidency,” Mr. Tatila said.
He said Zambians were expecting that former President Lungu and President Hichilema should have been the best of friends because Mr Lungu was the only surviving former Head of State.
“So for me, it is very unfair the way we are seeing Mr Lungu being treated. The UPND is even interested in the PF convention in March which should not be the case as it is none of their business. Whoever wins shall be the president of the PF,” Mr Tatila said Mr Tatila urged the UPND to have direction in what they were doing because President Lungu should be respected at all times as being the father of the nation.
