GRAND SON DRAGGED TO COURT FOR THEFT

A GRANDFATHER of Choma District in Southern province has dragged his Grandson to court for stealing.

This is in a case where  Frank Mupasha was appearing in the Choma Magistrates court for theft contrary to the laws of Zambia.

According to the statement of the offense,  between 1st and 27th September the accused person is alleged to have stolen two television sets,  one bicycle and one chicken all valued at K3000,  property of Robson Mwiinga.

According to the statement of facts,  on the about mentioned date the complainant who is the grandfather to the accused person left,  him in charge of the house as he traveled out of town.

While away from his house he received information from an informer that his grandson had started selling his items in the house forcing him to come back.

When called to take plea by state prosecutor Catherine Sakala before Resident Magistrate Selia Kanunka the accused person pleaded guilty to the offense.

When asked where he sold the items the accused person could only disclose that he ate  the chicken but failed to account for the other items.

“I am very sorry for my actions. I promise never to steal again,” Mupasha said.

Upon his plea of guilt and confirmation of the statement of facts to be true and correct, the court has since found the accused person guilty on his own admission.

In passing her sentence Magistrate Kanunka expressed disappointment with the actions of the accused person and slapped him with a 30 months jail term with effect from the date of arrest.
