…as Mighty seek redemption against Kansanshi

KABWE Warriors will seek to maintain their perfect run when they face struggling Trident FC in today’s delayed Week-19 fixture at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.
After their impressive 1-0 win over Forest Rangers in the last Super League fixture, Numba Mumamba’s boys will fight for maximum points to dislodge Nkwazi FC on second position.
Warriors will also seek to complete a double over Trident who they shocked 2-1 in the first-round meeting in Kabwe.
The five-times Zambian champions are fifth on the 18-team Super League table with 29 points and a win over Trident in today’s lunch time kick off at Shinde Stadium will propel them to 32 points.
Meanwhile, today’s meeting with Warriors presents Trident another opportunity to get their first victory of the season.
Since their promotion to the Super League, Trident have struggled with 10 draws and eight losses in the 18 games played so far and are bottom on the log with 10 points.
Trident will however need to come up with a perfect plan to stop Warriors who have goal scorers in all departments after Prince Mumba and defender Ocean Mushure scored in the last two wins for the Kabwe outfit.
In the second fixture of the double header at Shinde Stadium, Mufulira Wanderers will seek redemption when they host Kansanshi Dynamos after struggling with four defeats and two draws in the last six matches.
The Justin Chinama-drilled side last enjoyed a win last November when they beat Napsa Stars 2-1 in a Week-12 fixtures.
After announcing the release of eight players including captain Martin Sikaonga, it will be interesting to see whether their new signings – Djo Ntambwe, John Chilangwa and Caleb Kapembwa – will be able to add value to Shinde Stadium.
For Kansanshi Dynamos interim head coach Donewell Yobe, the match against is not going to be easy but his charges are game to fight for maximum three point as they aim to avoid the relegation zone.
“I think we are ready for the challenge. It is the second game of the second round and we have told the boys to take each game as a final so it is going to be a tough game but we have to rise to the occasion because where we are on the log we can’t afford to drop points,” Yobe said.
Yobe said Kansanshi Dynamos’ target is to ensure that they move into the top 10 spot before the break.
Kansanshi are 15th on the Super League table and a win over Wanderers today will see them escape the relegation zone to occupy 13th position.
