DMMU AIDS DISTRAUGHT KAZUNGULA FAMILIES

THE Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) in Southern Province has delivered tents, iron sheets and relief food to support 36 families of Kazungula’s Mashindi village whose houses were destroyed by heavy rains.

Last week, several houses collapsed after a  rain storm which led to the death of two people from one house.

DMMU regional coordinator Esnart Makwakwa disclosed that the government has donated 50 Iron sheets, 36 tents, 50 by 25 kg bags of mealie meal and beans to cushion the impact of the tragedy.

Ms Makwakwa hopes that the victims will recover and the situation will get to normalcy with the help that the government has rendered.

And Kazungula Town Council chairperson Tatila Mbozi is elated by the government’s quick response.

Ms Mbozi said the government will always provide for its people who are in need.

She said the government has reacted in mitigating the impact of the rainstorm which resulted in the loss of two lives. Ms Mbozi has since called on the government and well-wishers to help the victims rebuild their lives.
