CHIMWEMWE Member of Parliament (MP) Mwila Mutale  claims that he is ‘‘on top of things’’ in his constituency and that those who want to malign him by issuing false statements in the media are supporters of his rivals he defeated in the August 11, 2016, elections.

Mr Mutale said he would not be shaken by false media statements from supporters of the rivals because they were ‘‘still mourning over the loss’’.

He said he had a lot of work to do in the constituency where he was collecting information regarding the dilapidated infrastructure.

The former Patriotic Front (PF) Chimwemwe constituency chairman was reacting to media reports by some residents of Kawama township who called on him to stop celebrating his victory and instead get down to work to deliver on his campaign promises.

Speaking on behalf of the residents in the township, Joyce Mwango said Mr Mwila should stop being elusive, but instead get down to work and prove that he had the ability to deliver on his campaign promises.

But in response to the concerns of Kawama residents, Mr Mutale said recently he was in the constituency to collect information about the dilapidated infrastructure so that he could lobby for their rehabilitation by Government and other cooperating partners.

“If people say they want me to be visiting them at their homes, then it will be difficult for me to manage, but the truth of the matter is that I always find time to be in the constituency to do some work. I was recently in the constituency to get information about the dilapidated infrastructure so that it could be rehabilitated.

“Any way, I am on top of things and those who want to malign me by issuing false statements against me will not succeed. I know them, they are supporters of my rivals whom I defeated in the August 11, 2016, elections. They should continue mourning,” Mr Mutale said

He was confident that he would deliver on his campaign promises, especially if the people of Chimwemwe constituency supported him in his efforts to bring development to the area.
