Uncertainties jeopardise mining indaba – MUZI

By NATION REPORTER

THE Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) says the mining “indaba” aimed at empowering locals to own shares in the giant mining companies has delayed due to the uncertainty the sector has been going through.

MUZ president Joseph Chewe says the local mining sector has failed to grow because Zambians have been made to think that they cannot own mines.

Mr. Chewe says it is therefore imperative that knowledge is passed on to the local miners already in the industry to begin investing in their respective mining companies as a way of having shares in the long run.

He says Zambians have the capacity to run mines as long as the narrative that has been created that mining is an expensive venture that can only be done by foreign investors is changed. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE.
