JCC adjourns Siyunyi hearing

By NATION REPORTER

THE Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) has adjourned the hearing of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Lillian Siyunyi to July 25.

During the hearing, Ms Siyunyi raised a preliminary issue through her lawyer, Mr Abraham Mwansa, a former Solicitor General, stating that she was appearing before the JCC as DPP of Zambia and as such she should be represented by the Attorney General who was the Government Chief Legal Advisor.

However, the Attorney General, Mr Mulilo Kabesha is among the complainants who reported her to the JCC.

She indicated that Mr Kabesha was the right person to represent her in this matter because he was mandated to do so.

The preliminary issue forced the Vincent Malambo-led JCC not to make a ruling on the matter raised and had since reserved a ruling to next Monday.

Ms Siyunyi has been reported by a number of stakeholders for gross indiscipline on a number of issues one of the notable ones being the Milingo Lungu case.
