NEVERS Mumba is an opportunist for him to choose to partner with UPND now that they are in government, former MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe has said.
Major Kachingwe said it was not surprising because this had always been the nature of Dr. Mumba, to try and secure a job for himself in government as he had done in the past.
He said Dr. Mumba, who is the New Hope Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) president, cannot say that they had entered into a partnership with the UPND administration now because they were now in power.
“The Movement for Multi-party Democracy has entered into a partnership with the United Party for National Development administration based on the common values the two parties share,” according to Dr Mumba.
Maj Kachingwe said UPND had all those policies they were working on now lined up in their manifesto when they were in the opposition and Dr. Mumba would have chosen to partner with them based on the common values he was mentioning now.
“Why didn’t he choose to partner with them by then,” he said.
Maj Kachingwe said what Dr. Mumba was doing he had done before when late Levy Mwanawasa was president, he was leader of the opposition before he joined MMD and was sent to go and negotiate with Mwanawasa on behalf of the opposition but he ended up getting a job and dumped his friends.
