CENTRAL Province will host the first-ever Investment Forum in August this year aimed at attracting local and foreign investment.

This came to light during a meeting for provincial heads of government departments at the Boma Hall to discuss the programmes that would be embarked on in the province this year.

Provincial minister, Sydney Mushanga said ground work for hosting the expo have been laid and preparations are on course.

Mr Mushanga assured that the expo would be a success given the lessons learnt from the Luapula expo that was held last year.

Mr Mushanga has directed the office of the permanent secretary to ensure that less meetings are held so that provincial government heads could have enough time to implement the programme.

“We want this expo which will include the private sector to be successful because of the lessons drawn from the Luapula Expo which was held last year,” said Mr Mushanga.

The minister, who is Kabwe’s Bwacha Member of Parliament, said the main arena for the investment forum is the showgrounds in Kawana Township.

Mr Mushanga urged all heads of government departments to establish stands and participate in the expo.

Permanent Secretary Chanda Kabwe said the province had a formidable team in place which was ready to move the region forward in terms of development based on the five pillars of the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP).

“This year we are going to further improve service delivery to people in the province as we address concerns such as poor working attitude among civil servants,” said Mr Kabwe.
