Five Zambian artistes have been nominated for the Afrika Music Industry Awards (AMI Awards Afrika) to compete with several top African artistes.

This is the first time Zambia is getting such a big number of artistes in one competition and music followers believe Zambian music is now getting the recognition it deserves.

Cleo Ice Queen, Slap Dee, Roberto, T’Bwoy and B1 have all been nominated for their different efforts and contributions to the 2017 music year.

Interestingly, all the male Zambian nominees have been placed in one category reducing the chance of a Zambian winning because the votes from Zambia are likely to be split.

Slap Dee, T-Bwoy, Roberto and B1 have all been placed in the ‘Best male Southern Africa’ category.

However, Cleo Ice Queen, famous from ‘Big Brother-The Chase’ has been named nominee in the ‘Best female Southern Africa’ category. Here she competes with big names like, ‘Zahara of South Africa, Amantle Brown from Botswana and Londie London to name only a few.

Online voting is open and Zambians are encouraged to offer their support.
