ECL has run his race, let him rest – Bishop Mambo

By ADRIAN MWANZA
FORMER Republican President Edgar Lungu should be given time to rest because he has run his race when he was Head of State, says Bishop John Mambo.
Bishop Mambo said that without him stepping down from active politics, he would forfeit his benefits which would be pointless since it was his entitlement.
He said people needed to stop pressurising Mr Lungu and let him enjoy his life as a statesman with his family.
Bishop Mambo said that the country had a lot of spectators who were for just cheering wrong things.
“For me I just want to appeal to Mr Lungu to just leave the stage because he risks losing his benefits and he has a family to look after,” he said.
Bishop Mambo said somethings needed to be avoided because it would cause unnecessary problems for him and his family which was going to be bad because he was a statesman.
He said if the benefits were withheld, people would claim that the government was targeting Mr Lungu even though the constitution was clear that without him stepping down then he would not get his benefits.
Bishop Mambo said the former President needed that money from his retirement because he worked for it and had to get the benefits.
