HH overrides Kangwa’s ban on use of Govt cars

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has overturned the decision by Patrick Kangwa, the Secretary to Cabinet to restrict civil servants the use of Government vehicles after 18 hours.

Early this month, Mr Kangwa restricted civil servants entitled to personal to holder vehicles from using them after work hours and directed that all Government vehicles should be parked by 18 hours.

But speaking at a press briefing yesterday, President Hichilema said it was imperative that civil servants eligible and authorised to use Government vehicles continue to do so in the wake of a drought emergency.

“Mr Kangwa, (Secretary to the Cabinet), I am overriding your decisions. Civil servants who have access to vehicles must have transport. The cars should be available to them on a 24-hour basis to deliver services and help to needy areas. We are in an emergency click to read more
