HIGH-SPEED CHASE VICTIM’S FATHER SPEAKS OUT

FATHER of the pedestrian killed in a road traffic accident which sparked riots says the family has been robbed of a bread winner.

And Copperbelt Police commissioner Charity Katanga has refuted claims that the accident was as a result of police officer from traffic department pursuing the motorist.

The deceased’s father Emmanuel Siwakwi identified his son as Faston Siwakwi.  He was 21.

Mr. Siwakwi said his son who was a vendor in the Ndola Central Business district (CBD) used to sell plastic bags to sustain the family.

He said Faston also used to pay school fees for three other siblings.

“I am trying to cope following the death of my son who was killed in a car accident.

“The incident is unfortunate and what I can say is that we have been turned into destitutes because he was the one who used to help me in everything, with school fees for his three siblings and also rentals,” lamented Mr Siwakwi.

Mr. Siwakwi has appealed for support from well-wishers.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Police Commissioner Ms. Katanga has disclosed that an unknown number of officers were injured in Tuesday’s riot that engulfed the city.

Ms.Katanga said the motor vehicle involved in the accident an Elgrand registration number ACP 3927 was extensively damaged.

She said the vehicle was driven by a man only identified as Mike, a resident of Senior compound in Ndola. He is still at large.

She said the deceased’s body is still in Ndola Hospital mortuary and that the cause of death was a ripped stomach and fractured legs.
