ACC does not work like that

Dear Editor,

LOOK, the fact that you have a prejudiced and spiteful opinion of the President already proves that your understanding of governance is skewed.

How does the ACC just stand up and start investigating Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo based on publications by the Mast newspaper and other social media outlets? Levy Mwanawasa and his Nchito hyenas were advised by the late DPP Mukelabai Mukelabai that the cases they wanted to pursue lacked strong evidence and merit.

What happened $100m and 8 years later?? ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!!!

No meaningful convictions!!! So your tantrums and malevolent approach will yield nothing, just another waste of national resources and confusion for our future generations. Do more research before you comment!!!

And how will the perpetual lifting of previous presidents’ immunity help future generations in the fight against corruption?

It will be a recurring theme that will have no end.

Even if Hakainde Hichilema came to power, those that succeed him will do the same!!!

Each group that comes to power will dupe the population by going after their predecessors and claim they are fighting corruption.

What we need is to strengthen our institutions…not personalise the process by using power to target and fix those we don’t like.

Independent institutions rooted in our constitution is what will win us and our children the corruption fight.

No, No. The USA and Europe, the oldest examples of democracy don’t do that.

That’s why USA has organisations like FBI which has specially trained personnel to combat corruption.

Wasn’t it the FBI who successfully investigated the republicans during Watergate and resulted in the resignation of Richard Nixon?

I don’t remember the next Democrat president, Jimmy Carter lifting Nixon’s immunity because he didn’t need to.

They had the necessary and effective institutions to do that.
