KANGWA Puta has cautioned professionals in THE Judiciary and law enforcement agencies should guard against being carried away by partisan and tribal politics because such conduct has the potential ruin Zambia’s democracy and good governance record, Kangwa Puta has cautioned.
Ms Puta says staff in the judiciary should at all time remain professional and that their actions should never be imbued with politics because there is a danger that their careers as professionals could be ruined.
Ms Puta, the opposition Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Member of Central Committee said the rule of law ought to be respected and enforced regardless of one’s political, tribal and religious affiliations.
She said upholding the rule of law would not only earn the country’s good reputation and integrity of public institutions, locally, but also internationally.
In an interview, Ms Puta said it was sad that under the UPND government, professionals in the public institutions, including the Judiciary, the defence and security wings were behaving like an extension of the ruling party.
“Under the UPND government, we have not only seen mediocre service delivery, but we have seen worsening poverty and hunger, bad governance, abuse or weaponising of public institutions like judiciary, the defence and security wings,” Ms Puta said.
“In the face of this situation, we would like to caution professionals in public institutions not to be carried away by partisan and tribal politics because such conduct will not only ruin their careers, but also compromise the integrity of public institutions,” she said.
Ms Puta has also challenged those calling for healing after the August 13 elections to also condemn the increasing dictatorial tendencies of the UPND government, the killings, and the crackdown on the opposition Tonse Pamodzi Alliance.
Ms Puta has said it was worrying that some church, traditional leaders and civil society organisations (CSOs) who were supposed to condemn the inhuman, barbaric and evil things were ignoring the bad things which the UPND government was doing.
Ms Puta has ,however urged Zambians to remain prayerful and seek God’s guidance, strength and wisdom despite being robbed of victory in the August 13, which was believed to be fraudulent, with the international community such the European Union (EU) expressing concern on a number of issues.
“Zambia has not only been a peaceful nation, but has also been a Christian nation, but that declaration is now being threatened by evil forces who want to completely take over and possibly turn Zambia into a cult. As Zambians, we need to be prayerful,” she said.
