MANDEVU’s Ngwerere Ward has received a fair share in the improvement of roads through the second phase of the Lusaka 400-kilometre project, says Patriotic Front councillor Adrian Banda.

Mr Banda said his office, working with PF Mandevu Member of Parliament Jean Kapata were working together to deliver on the promises made to the residents on the need to improve the road network in Garden and surrounding areas.

He thanked the Government and President Edgar Lungu for responding to the call of residents on the need for the improvement of roads in Garden which for a long time have been impassable and non-existent.

Mr Banda said what the ward had witnessed was unprecedented for some areas such as Kanele because the area lacked a proper road but would now have a bituminous road with drainages and streetlights.

He said it had become clear that the government believed in uplifting people’s lives socially and economically.

“My office and the office of our MP Jean Kapata has been working together to deliver on the promises made to the residents on the need of improving the road network in and around Garden compound and this is coming to reality,” he said.

He said the construction of roads in the ward would result in the private sector coming in to invest and create jobs for women and youths.

Mr Banda said the project was part of the second phase of Lusaka (L) 400 kilometre project and that Ngwerere ward was fortunate that it been awarded roads. He said the project had elated residents who were eager to see to it that Garden and the surrounding areas of Ngwerere ward received a facelift.
