THERE was laughter in Lusaka Local Court when a woman said that her husband lied that she denies him conjugal rights because she got married for sex not to eat nshima.

This is in a case in which Peggy Bwalya, 24, of Kabanana compound sued her husband, Pethias Bwalya, 31, for reconciliation.

Peggy told Senior Court Magistrate Pauline Newa sitting with Magistrate Miyanda Banda at Matero Local Court that they stayed near bars and that whenever someone greeted her or a child, Bwalya would accused that person of being her boyfriend.

She explained that later Bwalya chased her and she went to stay with her parents.

Peggy further said that Bwalya sat with his family and said that if she did want to return to the same home near bars she should leave him which led to a separation for a month.

In defence, Bwalya said that problems started a month after they got married because Peggy’s matrons did not teach her about marriage life.

He explained that Peggy did want to be touched when they were in bed and that she put a blanket between them, adding that it was the reason he thought she had a boyfriend.

“I was making love to her by force and threatening her that we would differ if she refused to make love to him,’’ said Bwalya.

But Peggy said that what Bwalya said was a lie because she was taught what to do in marriage life as she did not follow nshima at his house to but to enjoy sex.

Magistrate Newa reconciled the couple since they were both willing to do so and gave Bwalya a week to shift to another place, away from bars.
