AN Israeli envoy has encouraged Zambia’s business sector to take advantage of his country’s high-tech cyber security and safeguard their businesses.

Ambassador Gershon Kedar has boasted that his country is one of the top three countries in the world with high-tech cyber security.  Mr Kedar is Israel’s non-resident ambassador to Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia

He said that it is against that background that Zambians should take advantage of Israel and secure their businesses.

Ambassador Kedar was speaking on Monday when he held talks with members of the Livingstone Chamber of Commerce led by its president, Namakau Siyanga.

He said that the bilateral relations between Zambia and Israel which has seen President Edgar Lungu and a number of ministers visit his country has created investment opportunities.

Ambassador Kedar said so far, three sectors in Israel have already signed three Memorandum of understanding with the Zambian government in agriculture, water and energy.

He has also encouraged the Zambian business sector to visit Israeli stands at the forth coming International Trade Fair slated for South Africa.

The ambassador noted that this would enable the Zambian business sector to meet with their Israeli counterparts, create linkages, and look at investment opportunities.

In addition, Livingstone Chamber of Commerce president Namakau Sinyanga informed Ambassador Kedar that Livingstone as a tourist destination has vast opportunities for investment.

Ms Siyanga pleaded with the visiting ambassador to engage business tycoons in Israel to visit Zambia and Livingstone in particular to try to explore investment opportunities.

She said with the construction of Kazungula Bridge by the Zambian and Botswanan governments, it brings many opportunities to Southern Province, particularly Livingstone and Kazungula.

She thanked Ambassador Kedar for visiting Zambia barely a few weeks after a team of South African businessmen visited Livingstone and Kazungula to look at investment opportunities ahead of the completion of the Kazungula Bridge project.
