On September 11, the national Futsal team is scheduled to fly to Italy for the international futsal championship slated for September 18 in the City of L’Aquila.

Cristoforetti said he was happy with the progress made by the players who have shown a lot of commitment in training.

“I’m pretty satisfied with the overall performance, the commitment is there and we are trying to work on all the aspects that we need. The experience at the tournament in Europe will help us to start getting that intensity we need to be the best,” Cristoforetti said.

“We are ready to compete. Now we need to assess ourselves. Since we will be playing different levels of teams we can gauge where we are at the moment and the major goal is the qualifiers.

We are ready to compete. Most of these guys will be having the first international experience we are all very curious and very excited. That is the kind of vibe in the camp and we are definitely ready to play,” he said.

He said the international futsal tournament in Italy will gauge the progress made as the team prepare for the crucial Futsal Africa Cup qualifiers.

“We are really working hard we all understand what we are doing in terms of the importance of playing every game at the end of the day. We are waiting for the draws form CAF which are taking long and we are not sure who we will be playing against. As of today, I have heard that maybe in the next few days we will be able to know,” Cristoforetti said.

Asked about any injury concerns Cristoforetti said; “Things are going on pretty well apart from Prince Lungu who is doing physiotherapy. He is not with the group because he had a bit of an ankle problem.”

With only a week remaining before the team leaves for Italy, Cristoforetti said the squad would double its training sessions to prepare adequately.

Currently, the team meets once everyday from 09:00 hours to 12:00 hours at the Automotive Indoor Futsal Arena.
