PATRIOTIC Front (PF) bigwigs who were at loggerheads on the Copperbelt have reconciled.
Misunderstandings between Cop- perbelt Patriotic Front structures led by Nathan Chanda and Bowman Lusambo’s provincial mobilisation committee have been resolved, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila said yesterday.
Mr Mwila also warned, “WE are not going to tolerate any forms of indis- cipline in the party and anyone who will be found insulting the leaders on social media platforms will be punished.” According to the Secretary General, it was observed that the provincial committee and the mobilization committee on the Copperbelt were not working together.
Mr Mwila was speaking in Kitwe when he summoned the Provin- cial and Mobilisation Commit- tees, District committee members, constituency Chairpersons, all PF Members of Parliament, PF may- ors and Councilors on the Copper- belt.
The SG however described the meeting which took place for about one hour thirty minutes as a fruitful one.
“The differences that were sur- rounding the two committees have been resolved. We will now start seeing the two committees working together,” he said.
According to insiders, the differ- ences relate to the marathon mobi- lization tours undertaken without the involvement of the Copperbelt party structures, raising fears and insecurity in local leadership that they were being sidelined.
Mr Mwila said the party expected peace and unity from the two parties going forward.
And PF Copperbelt Provincial Chairman Nathan Chanda said that the members of the party would moveasaunitedforce.
Mr Chanda said the provincial leadership would not allow a few elements who may want to take advantage of misunderstandings in the party to succeed.
“Indiscipline and lawlessness will not be allowed from anyone. We want to work together with the mobilisation committee,” he said.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt Mobil- isation Committee Chairperson Bowman Lusambo said the com- mittee would continue supple- menting efforts of the provincial committee.
“As mobilisation committee, we are assuring you that going for- ward, our aim will be to get all the 22 MPs on the Copperbelt to par- liament in 2021,” he said.
