Win at Buildcon rejuvenating – Nkana

By MICHAEL MIYOBA
KITWE giants Nkana FC and Power Dynamos FC will on Sunday renew their rivalry in the much anticipated Copperbelt derby which always bring the city to a standstill when the two rivals face off.
Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi is looking forward to the derby after he guided Nkana to a 2-0 win over their bitter rivals with Alex Ngo’nga and Diamond Chikwekwe scoring the goals for the Wusakile-based Super League outfit in the last derby played in May this year at Arthur Davies Stadium.
Rejuvenated by a dramatic win over Buildcon FC who were stunned 2-1 thanks to two injury time goals, Chambeshi will hope that his charges will ready to end Power Dynamos five games winning streak.
And because pride is always at stake when the two giants meet, Chambeshi believes his side will put up a decent fight to ensure that they don’t move with their heads facing down after the derby scheduled for Sunday at Nkana Stadium.
“Local derbies are not about the coach. It’s about Kitwe itself and the players I think they will show the character and I trust the boys.
“It is about the supporter not the players but we are very comfortable very confident it will be up to how the fans behaves. A derby is until the last whistle so I can’t promise that we are going to win but this is a winning team,” Chambeshi said.
Chambeshi said the win over Buildcon boosted the teams’ morale ahead of the derby which promises a lot of sparks as both rivals are enjoying good form.
Chambeshi is also banking on the passionate Nkana fans to cheer the team until the final whistle for motivation.
“The fans have to support the way they have been supporting from the first whistle. I know how Nkana fans they are always there for us but my encouragement to them is that let them die a little for this team, let them come in numbers so that we give the boys a big morale,” Chambeshi said.
Nkana have lost the last two derbies at Nkana Stadium and Power Dynamos will be determined to pick another win under a new coach Mwenya Chipepo who has inspired the side from being a relegation fighter to title contenders.
Power Dynamos are motivated with five straight win over Kansanshi Dynamos, Zesco United, Indeni, Chambishi and Kabwe Warriors and occupy third position on the Super League table with 22 points.
