THE Lusaka Province Patriotic Front (PF) has endorsed the candidature of President Edgar Lungu in the 2021 general elections as the sole candidate for the ruling party.

Provincial youth chairman Kennedy Kamba said that President Lungu’s desire to stand in 2021 was a welcome move which was going to make the PF united.

He explained in an interview with Daily Nation that all the other senior members of the party with intentions to stand for the party presidency would stop commenting on the matter since the President had cleared the air.

Mr Kamba pointed out that the endorsement of President Lungu was going to unite the party and erode all possible wrangles that would have erupted in the party if he had not declared his intentions.

“The endorsement of President Lungu will bury all the difference in the party because all the others members waiting to take over from him will be silenced. We don’t want to see the wrangles like we saw between Wynter Kabimba and GBM when the late President Michael Sata announced that he was not going to stand” Mr Kamba said.

Mr Kamba assured the President that he had the support of the youth and that no other candidate would defeat him even the party was to go for a convention.

Meanwhile, Lusaka district PF announced yesterday endorsed the candidature of President Lungu in the 2021 general elections as the sole candidate for the ruling party.

PF district chairman Stafford Kayame said that President Lungu should be the only candidate from the PF because development in the country had progressed well under his leadership.

Mr kayame said that the country had seen unprecedented development under President Lungu’s leadership and that even the party population had grown.

He reiterated that the entire PF membership in the district was wholly in support of the candidature of President Lungu and that they did not expect other members to challenge that position.

And Matero constituency chairman Chrispin kabwe said that there was no need for the party to look for another candidate in 2021 because President Lungu had proved that he was able.

Lusaka Central constituency chairman Chikutamo Nkhoma also said that there was no need for the party to go for a convention since the candidate for the 2021 elections was already there.

Other constituencies in Lusaka district that have since endorsed the candidature of President Lungu include Kanyama and Munali constituency.
