PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu is ready to dialogue with any political party leaders including Mr Hakainde Hichilema as long as it is on national matters and not to be used as a conduit for someone looking for a way into State House, Patriotic Front National vice chairperson for mobilisation Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said.
Mr Mwamba said the only problem was that Mr Hichilema was too selfish, he would only want to talk about himself and his desire to get into power.
He said Mr Hichilema should know that the dialogue process cannot be held merely to discuss his personal issues.
“Our President is always ready to dialogue with the opposition leaders on the wellbeing of the country. He has been talking about always having an open door so that people can be free to discuss national issues.
So the dialogue meeting which Mr Hichilema is talking about should border on national issues and nothing else. There are a number of things which the country is facing which need to be addressed.
“We don’t want to see during the dialogue process someone start talking about the appetite to be in State House. I know him very well, he is a selfish individual all he wants is him to be in State House,” Mr Mwamba said.
Mr Mwamba said that important issues which needed to be talked about include violence and improving the economy.
Mr Hichilema proposed that the church mother bodies preside over the dialogue process to foster peace, democracy and decency in the country.
Mr Hichilema said “We have always been ready for dialogue.
He said yesterday that he had officially written to President Lungu, the church mother bodies, among other stakeholders to ensure that dialogue come to fruition.
Mr Hichilema has written to the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Council of Churches in Zambia and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia to ensure that they facilitate the dilogue process.
Mr Hichilema said hate speech and violence had reached unprecedented levels in the country country which needed to be stopped.
