MASSIVE Chinese investment in Zambia will help boost the country’s economic growth, President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu said he was pleased with the Chinese investment in the country, saying that the investment was visible for all to see.

He called for strengthened partnerships between the
Chinese and local investors.

The President was speaking when Bank of China Chairman of the Board of Directors Tian Guoli paid a courtesy call on him at State House in Lusaka yesterday.

“Chinese investment in Zambia is very impressing. I am confident that this will bring about growth in the country’s economy,” he said.

And President Lungu has cherished the cordial and long standing relationship that had existed between Zambia and China since 1964.

He hoped that the continued cooperation between the two States would boost investment in the country.

He said Zambia was putting a lot of efforts in improving its economy and that Chinese cooperation with Zambia would greatly help the country achieve its dream.

“Zambia and China have shared very good relations from the time Zambia got its independence. Zambians will never forget the role China played in TAZARA and it is our hope that the two countries continue working together,” President Lungu said.

The President also praised China for helping not only Zambia but African nations during the independence struggle.

And Mr Guoli admired Zambia’s friendly investment
environment.

He said Zambia was a good investment destination because of its peaceful nature and stability.

Mr Guoli also called for a deepened economic and bilateral cooperation between Zambia and China.

He assured President Lungu that his company would work with Zambian companies and
exchange knowledge.

“Bank of China has being in existence for more than 100 years and started its operation in Zambia in 1997. We will continue working in Zambia,” he said.

The Chinese Envoy stated that Chinese companies would continue to expand its presence and investment in Zambia.

He said China has invested millions of Dollars in the Zambian economy and that more investment is on its way to Zambia.

Mr Guoli was accompanied by President of the Bank of China, Hainan Branch, Managing Director of Bank of China in Zambia Mr Zhou Jianju and China’s Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming among other leaders.
