NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) interim secretary-general Mwenya Musenge has notified Copperbelt police command to hold a public meeting this Saturday in Kitwe at Buchi Hall.

And Mr Musenge has dispelled assertions that the Patriotic Front (PF) government through the registrar of societies interfered in the process of registering his political party.

Mr Musenge, who is former Copperbelt minister and Chimwemwe PF member of Parliament, said he has already pushed in a notification to hold his first-ever public meeting.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Musenge said he was hopeful that police would give his political party a go ahead.

“The purpose of holding this meeting is to take stock and see how we are doing on the ground. We want to see how the support base on the ground is and use it as a party registration and mobilisation. Those who would want to become members of our party will be registered at this function,” Mr Musenge said.

Meanwhile, Mr Musenge dispelled misconception that probably there was interference from government during the registration process of the political party.

“I think for once I would like to commend our colleagues at the registrar of societies for exhibiting a lot of professionalism. Let me not forget all those who were involved because our documents passed through a lot of hands before they were finally approved.
