By FRANK NYAMBE

A LUSAKA housewife narrated before a local court that she got to a rude shock when her husband brought another woman in their bedroom after they differed.

This was in a case in which Agnes Tembo 22, of John Laing compound sued her husband, Richard Banda, 25, a taxi driver for reconciliation.

However, Banda said that he did not want to reconcile with Tembo.

The two got married in 2010 and have two children.

Tembo told Senior Court Magistrate Miyanda Banda sitting with Magistrate Pauline Newa at Matero Local Court that problems started in 2015 when they bought a car because Banda would leave the house in the night saying he was going for work but switched off his phone.

She explained that she was shocked to find messages on Banda’s phone from a woman asking him to hurry up so that they could go and make love.

Tembo said that last month Banda packed her belongings and beat her.

“Banda gave my phone number to his girlfriend who insulted me and said that Banda doesn’t know me; he even spent a night out. When my sister came Banda said that he doesn’t love me and that I should go to the village,” said Tembo.

In defence, Banda said that he stopped loving Tembo because she did not respect him.

He explained that as a taxi driver, he had different numbers of customers but each time he knocked off, Tembo checked numbers in his phone in the hope of finding his girlfriends.

Banda said that Tembo left their home for almost two months now and had no idea where she went.

But Tembo countered and said that she was shocked to find a woman who is now sleeping on the matrimonial bed and that she was the one who received the summons on behalf of Banda when she went to serve him.

Asked by the court if he brought another woman in the matrimonial home, Banda agreed.

Magistrate Banda ruled a failed reconciliation on the basis that Banda refused to reconcile and said that it was up to one of them to sue for divorce.
