PATRIOTIC Front (PF) supporter Maxwell Chongu has donated assorted items worth K25, 000 to inmates at Lusaka Central and Kamwala Remand correctional facilities.

And Mr Chongu has appealed to his youths both in the Patriotic Front and the opposition refrain from violence and promote peace.

On Saturday, Mr Chongu donated clothes, sanitary pads, toys, and foodstuffs to the inmates.

After making the donations, Mr Chongu urged well-wishers to show love to the inmates by sharing with them the little they could afford.

He told the Daily Nation that his donation to prisoners was not first and last and that he would continue to donate to the less privileged in society.

“I wish to confirm that I closed 2017 with donations to prisons that saw inmates rejoice and feel loved. My donation to prisons will not be the first and last but an ongoing process, which will eventually reach hospitals and orphanages, to help our brothers and sisters in society,” Mr Chongu said.

He added: “I wish to appeal to our leaders and fellow youths to consider our brothers and sisters’ needs and wants in prison, hospitals and above all the less privileged in the society.”

Meanwhile, the PF stalwart said there was need for Zambians to live in peace and harmony regardless of their political affiliation.

He said 2018 looked bright hence the need for him to emphasize on peace, love, forgiveness, reconciliation and unity among PF members and the public. “I also appeal to fellow youths in the PF and above all every Zambian to contribute positively to the development of this great nation and not to be used as tools of political violence by selfish leaders in exchange for handouts,” he said.
