INVESTORS should take advantage of numerous opportunities that exist in various sectors of the economy and must put them into action for a mutual win-win situation, says Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margret Mwanakatwe.

Ms Mwanakatwe urged investors to take advantage of many investment opportunities that exist in sectors in the economy such as agriculture, energy, manufacturing, tourism, mining, industrial parks and the multi-facility economic zones whose potential could be turned into achievable action through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and joint ventures.

The minister said this yesterday in Lusaka when she officially opened the Zambia-Korea Investment Forum meant to consolidate trade and business opportunities between the two countries.

Ms Mwanakatwe said that Government was determined to attract domestic as well as foreign direct investment, hence it was committed to fostering an enabling environment that was more predictable and stable where all businesses would freely participate to attain Zambia’s Vision 2030 of transforming the country into a prosperous middle income country by the year 2030.

‘‘There are a lot of investment opportunities that exist in Zambia. These are in various sectors such as agriculture and agro-processing, energy, tourism, mining, real estate, manufacturing and multi-facility economic zones which can be actualised through Public Private Partnerships and joint ventures.

‘‘As Korean investors you are being called upon to come and invest in Zambia because of the following reasons: Zambia has a stable macro-economic environment which is conducive for private sector development and industrial growth,’’ she said.

Ms Mwanakatwe said that she looked forward to seeing Zambia not only being an importer but also a leading exporter of goods and services in the sub region.

Speaking at the same event, Korean Ambassador to Zambia Yong-Kyu Kwon said that investors from that country looked forward to creating more business linkages with Zambia in information communication technologies, infrastructure and energy, among others, by next year.
