Zambian Breweries boosts conservation drive

ZAMBIAN Breweries has given K50, 000 to the National Heritage Conservation Commission (NHCC) as part of its commitment to supporting natural resources and culture in the country.

The money was raised during this year’s Mosi Day of Thunder held  in Livingstone recently and was attended by more than 12,500 local and international revellers.

The funds will be used by the NHCC for rehabilitation of the path to the Boiling Pot at the Victoria Falls; pave the driveway at the entrance to the Falls, and also rehabilitate one of the ladies’ ablution blocks.

Speaking at the event, Zambian Breweries Head of Brand Marketing, Nomonde Donsa, said the company was committed to working and partnering with Government and other institutions in promoting and preserving arts, culture and natural resources among others.

“We are proud and happy to work with NHCC. For us at Zambian Breweries, we understand and appreciate that arts, culture and natural resources are important and people should appreciate them,” said Ms Donsa.

And Ministry of Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary, Liya Mutale, commended Zambian Breweries for the support.

Dr. Mutale said her ministry recognised the efforts that Zambian Breweries had made in the promotion and preservation of arts, tourism and culture, which also created employment

 “Today we are witnessing that great partnership, were Zambian Breweries is handing over a cheque for K50, 000 to the National Heritage Conservation Commission for the improvement of infrastructure and preservation of natural resources.

“This is a commendable and an appreciated gesture that other companies should emulate. The improvement of infrastructure in the country calls for concerted efforts between government and the private sector,” she said

Dr. Mutale also commended Zambian Breweries for its strong position on responsible drinking.
